Sonix Agent joins as a guest and transcribes as people talk
The AI meeting recorder sends a participant named Sonix Agent into your call, records it, and streams the transcript into your Sonix editor while the meeting is still running.
It joins like any other guest
Sonix Agent shows up in the participant list under that name, with the Sonix logo as its video tile, so everyone in the call can see it. If the meeting has a waiting room or lobby, it waits there until someone admits it. If nobody admits it, Sonix stops trying after about 10 minutes and that meeting costs nothing.
The transcript writes itself during the call
Each line appears in your editor seconds after it is spoken, labeled with the speaker's name from the meeting. You can correct a name or a term while the call continues, and your edits stay put as new lines arrive. A Recording live status in the toolbar shows the agent is listening.
Leaving ends the recording
Click Leave meeting in Sonix and the agent exits the call. Sonix then attaches the meeting video to the transcript, and you can keep reading while it finishes processing. The words you watched arrive are the finished transcript, with no second wait for the text.
Every meeting ends as a full transcript you can search
Once the video is attached, a recorded meeting is a regular Sonix file, and everything you already do with uploads works on it.
Play it back and search it
The video plays beside the transcript, and clicking any word jumps playback to that moment. Meetings land in your Sonix files with the rest of your work, so full-text search finds the decision from three weeks ago.
Share it and export it
Send a read-only link to people who missed the call, or export the transcript as DOCX, PDF or TXT and the captions as SRT or VTT. Speaker names and timestamps come along in every format.
Translate it and ask AI about it
Translate the meeting into 54+ languages for teammates in other countries, or use AI analysis to pull a summary, action items and answers to your questions from what was said.
Send the agent to the calls you need word for word
The meeting recorder earns its place on calls where the exact words matter later and where nobody wants to take notes while they talk.
Client and sales calls
Stay in the conversation instead of typing notes. Afterward, the transcript holds the customer's own words on pricing, timelines and objections, ready to quote in a proposal or paste into your CRM.
Interviews and research sessions
Remote interviews and user research calls come back with every answer attributed to the person who gave it. Researchers can code the transcript, and hiring teams can compare candidates on what they actually said.
Team meetings people miss
Share the transcript and video with anyone who could not make it, so they catch up in minutes instead of asking for a recap. A searchable record also settles what was decided and who agreed to do it.
Trainings, webinars and lectures
Long sessions on Zoom or Teams turn into searchable text you can export as captions or study notes, in any of the 52 languages Sonix transcribes live.
Sonix Agent only joins the meetings you send it to
The meeting recorder has no calendar access, so the agent never joins a call on its own: it goes in only after someone on your account pastes that meeting's link.
Your team decides who can send it
Anyone on your account who can upload files can send Sonix Agent to a meeting, and view-only teammates cannot. A meeting transcript then follows the same team permissions, sharing settings and per-user quotas as every other file.
Protected like every Sonix file
Recordings and transcripts are encrypted with TLS in transit and AES-256 at rest under SOC 2 Type II controls, and Sonix never uses your audio or transcripts to train AI models.
How Sonix protects your files
Four habits for clean transcripts
Live transcription hears the call exactly as the meeting app delivers it, so a little preparation improves every line you get back.
- Pick the language people will speak. You choose the spoken language when you paste the link, and calls that switch between Spanish and English have a bilingual option.
- Send the agent before the call starts. Admitting it ahead of the first agenda item means the transcript has the opening, not just the middle.
- Use real names in the meeting app. Display names become the speaker labels, so a participant who joins as iPhone stays iPhone in the transcript until you rename the speaker.
- Keep the audio clear. A headset in a noisy room helps everyone on the call hear each other, and Sonix hears the same improvement.
Meetings use your plan's hours, within a few fixed limits
Meeting time comes out of the same transcription hours as an uploaded file, and only the time Sonix actually recorded counts.
A few limits keep every meeting predictable for you and your team:
- Each meeting records for up to 4 hours. Sonix leaves at that point, or sooner if your available hours run out, and keeps the transcript.
- An account can run 5 meetings at the same time.
- Starting a meeting takes at least 5 minutes of available time.
- Per-user quotas apply, so a teammate's meetings stay within any cap an admin has set.
When the agent joins, Sonix sets aside time up to the meeting's limit so two meetings never count on the same hours. When the meeting ends, you pay for the recorded length and the rest goes back to your balance. Canceling before the recording starts costs nothing.
