Who transcribes Lithuanian content?
Lithuanian broadcasters, podcasters, and newsrooms transcribe interviews and programs, while universities and Baltic-studies researchers transcribe oral histories and fieldwork recordings. Lithuanian is also an official EU language, so government bodies, courts, and diaspora media in North America and the UK regularly need Lithuanian speech converted to text.
Lithuanian dialects and accents
Lithuanian has two main dialect groups: Aukštaitian (Highland), on which the standard language is based, and Samogitian (Lowland), which differs enough in vowels and stress that heavily dialectal speech can challenge speech recognition. Broadcast and formal speech in Lithuania closely follows the Aukštaitian-based standard, which is what transcription models handle best.
