Who transcribes Bengali content?
Broadcasters and news outlets in Dhaka and Kolkata, NGOs and development researchers working in Bangladesh, and academic researchers conducting Bengali-language interviews and oral histories all transcribe Bengali audio regularly. Diaspora media and community organizations in the UK, US, and the Gulf also rely on Bengali transcription for podcasts, sermons, and community programming.
Bengali dialects and accents
Standard Bengali comes in two closely related national varieties: the Dhaka-influenced standard used in Bangladesh and the Kolkata-based standard used in West Bengal, India, which differ in pronunciation and some vocabulary. Regional varieties such as Sylheti and Chittagonian diverge so strongly that many linguists classify them as separate languages, so they behave differently from standard Bengali in speech recognition.
